At Southside Veterinary Center, you can trust that your pets are in great hands. Our compassionate, skillful staff is here to help when you need us most. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Wellness Care
Through all stages of your pet’s life, we’ll be there for your pet. We know how exciting it can be to bring a new pet into your home, and we want to make sure they start off on the right foot. During their first visit, we’ll perform a full nose-to-tail physical examination to look for any concerns with your pet’s health. We’ll also discuss nutrition, vaccine schedule, training, grooming tips, and how to keep your new pet protected against parasites. Of course, these things will be important as your pet ages, too.
Diagnostics & Radiology

It is difficult to see your pet in pain or suffering and not know what’s wrong. Our team provides state-of-the-art in-house diagnostics to help us learn what’s wrong and provide an accurate diagnosis. A quicker diagnosis leads to quicker treatment!

Radiology:
A radiograph (X-ray) is a type of photograph that looks inside the body and reveals information that may not be discernible from the outside. Radiography can be used to evaluate your pet’s internal organs like the heart, lungs, and abdominal organs, as well as bones. When it comes to diagnosing your pet accurately, radiology can be an extremely valuable tool in our diagnostic arsenal.

Ultrasound:
Ultrasonography, or ultrasound, is a diagnostic imaging technique similar to radiography (X-rays) and is often used in conjunction with radiography and other diagnostics. It allows us to visualize certain organs very thoroughly, including the heart, kidneys, liver, gallbladder, bladder, spleen, and intestines. It can also be useful to detect and monitor pregnancy.

Coggins & Health Certificates

Coggins Papers are to test for a disease called Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA). This is a federally regulated disease and is deadly to horses.

Health certificates are to ensure that horses being transported are healthy and not potentially exposing innocent horses to disease. Health certificates require that a USDA-certified veterinarian inspects the horse and declares it healthy upon inspection.

On-Site Laboratory

We’re able to process a wide variety of diagnostic laboratory tests with our in-house laboratory. Our pets cannot tell us what’s wrong, and that’s why laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging are so important. We choose the tests that will guide us toward the perfect, tailor-made solution for your pet’s needs.

Parasite Prevention

Veterinary examinations and parasite testing are important ways to protect your pet’s health. Let our knowledgeable staff provide you with a comprehensive parasite control program. We can recommend a schedule for parasite testing, discuss what signs of parasites you can look for at home, review ways to control parasites in and around your home, discuss treatment options if your pet has parasites, and recommend ways to control and prevent parasites in the future.

Heartworm Testing & Prevention

We can recommend tests to tell if your pet has parasites. We can also examine your pet for evidence of fleas, ticks, or other parasites. Our expert staff can recommend medications to help control fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites. Preventing parasites in your pets also helps protect children and other family members, so let’s work together to protect your pets and family.

Nutritional Counseling

It’s easy to get confused or overwhelmed by all the pet foods on the market. We can help you weed through the choices and find dog or cat food that will meet your pet’s specific nutritional needs. Feel free to ask us for a food recommendation or contact us with any nutrition questions or concerns you might have. We’re happy to help!

Dental Care

We recommend that you have a veterinarian evaluate your pet’s dental health at least once a year. Bacteria and food debris accumulate around the teeth and, if left unchecked, will lead to deterioration of the soft tissue and bone surrounding the teeth. We can help show you how to brush your pet’s teeth and recommend foods and treats that will help combat plaque and tartar buildup.

Surgery

Our team is highly-skilled and experienced in performing a wide variety of pet surgeries using modern techniques, cutting edge equipment, and always adhering to the strictest standards of safety and care. We provide surgical options in a clean and safe environment. Most importantly, our veterinary team can closely track each animal’s vital condition during surgery. Our surgeries include canine and feline cosmetic surgeries, spays/neuters, and orthopedics. We use a CO2 Surgical Laser for our procedures.

Anesthesia Vital Sign Monitor

There are some situations where your pet will need general anesthesia or sedation while under our care (dental services, surgical procedures, some anxious or fearful patients for exams or to perform medical diagnostics).

Anesthesia is a temporary loss of consciousness, where your pet’s level of consciousness is controlled, so they don’t feel pain and don’t move.

Companion Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a cutting-edge veterinary medicine technique for managing many conditions, including chronic pain in pets. Cold laser therapy is a noninvasive procedure that uses light to stimulate blood flow and increase circulation. It is not a surgical laser that cuts tissue but a laser with different wavelengths to help heal tissues. The laser may even be used as a part of acupuncture in place of the needles.

Senior Wellness Packages

Our Senior Annual Wellness Package has been created to encourage and allow our clients to provide quality comprehensive medical care for their beloved seniors. Pets are living longer than ever before. As a result, older pets can develop various conditions and ailments that can be easily detected by performing annual blood work. We use senior testing to promote early detection and treatment of disease so we can maintain health and prevent illness during your pet’s senior years.

Pharmacy

We have a fully stocked, in-house, and online pharmacy! We are here to make sure your pet always has the things they need to live a happy and healthy life. Our pharmacy is stocked full of the products you need.

Microchipping

A microchip is about the size and shape of a grain of rice and is placed underneath your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. Microchip implantation takes only a few minutes and is very safe. Each microchip is unique and carries vital information about your pet—including your name, address, and contact information. We use Datamars, which contains a unique 15-digit identification code that is ISO compatible, so you know your pet can be identified every time.

Vaccinations

We understand that your pet is unique and that no single vaccine program will be ideal for every pet in every situation. Our doctors and other staff members are well-educated about veterinary vaccines, and our goal is to give you the best advice for keeping your pet healthy. Let us develop a vaccination schedule and ongoing booster routine that accounts for your pet’s lifestyle, overall health, the risk for exposure to infectious disease, and other factors.

Boarding & Grooming

We offer limited grooming and have a local boarding facility with a self-service pet wash.

Vet Technician Available for Phone Triage

If you have a pet emergency, you can call us to speak to a Vet Technician. They will gather your information about your pet’s situation, triaging them over the phone. The technician will instruct you on the following steps to bring your pet in.
